Blue Onion

Blue Onion

Hoop sizes 4” x 4” to 9.5” x 14”

Widely recognized, blue onion patterns like the ones in this collection were first seen on porcelain dishes way back in 1740 throughout China. However, the term “Blue Onion” was coined by porcelain artists in Europe in the 1870s who were inspired to create their own rendition of the famous dishes. Just as artists are constantly inspired by others, we have been inspired to release this collection. This collection is an all embroidered tribute to the Blue Onion designs of the past. To keep with tradition, we selected a few shades of blue that complement the classic cobalt blue commonly seen as part of these designs. We also decided to use a white cotton background to mimic the white porcelain. The beautifully digitized designs feature flowers, onions, swirls and other blue-onion inspired shapes. These designs can be used to embellish napkins or make a table runner for your next dinner party. This 10-piece collection comes in 1 size and is compatible with a 4” x 4” hoop or larger.
